Post subject:  29 van governor question (new to forum)

hi new to the site. got a hyperdrive with a 29 vanguard. the governor is not set and need some help. the motor only runs half throttle in water. i can reach back and open it up by hand but the governor pulls it rite back to half throttle. help would be greatly appreciated!!

While standing at the back of your engine, look between the muffler and air filter box. On the righ hand side you will see a phillip head screw that is threaded thru a spring. Turn this screw clockwise to raise your rpm's. I would raise them to about 4200-4250 out of water. To check them, just sqeeze your throttle wide open and see what rpm's your turning.

i know about the fine adjustment. that screw your talking about. the whole governor mechanism got loose from the motor. i need to find out what position to put it in

Rear case will have to come off if the whole mechanism came loose inside the motor more than likely.

Ok wasn't a governor prop. Although it did come loose I'm still runnin 4 grand out water. Turns out I been runnin on one cylinder!! Needless to say I checked everything and had no idea what was goin on till I decided to pull my panels only to discover that my intake manifold was complety off my block on the bad cylinder!! Wow. Don't know how that happened but glad that's all!!
