I purchased a 18 X 54 boat, motor and trailer in 2015 from PD. I absolutely love my boat but I have been fighting prop issues since day 1. It has the 37 with gen 3 lower and when I got the boat it would run great with just me in the boat but put 1 other person and it would fall flat on its face. I had 3 guys in it headed to the duck lease with 1 dog and our hunting gear and the boat wouldn't get on step. I brought it back to PD and changed it from a 2 blade to a 3 blade prop (same my friend has on his). I would like to also say that PD was incredible and traded me props with no problem. The boat preformed great and I couldn't believe that I was running 28 mph empty with a great whole shot. I made 3 short trips in the boat and each time the boat got slower and slower. Last time I took it out with me and my cousin it would only get 21.5mph tops. The motor is turning over 4K RPMs but for some reason it seems like the prop just won't grab. It goes to take off and once you reach a certain RPM it lets go. The boat is now at the local prop shop getting looked at. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? In our duck lease we have an 07 gator tail, and an 08 PD and both of those boats out preform mine on any occasion every day of the week. I'm really hoping the prop shop can fix it but if not what kind of props do y'all suggest? Boat only had approx 60 hours and I have never hit anything or went in really shallow water in it. Always in at least a foot of water.

The boat getting slower, and slower, seems more to me you are having engine troubles. I would get a leakdown test done to verify valve leakage is in check and also verify the camshaft is not failing by wearing off a lobe. If you want to bringit to my shop I'd be glad to help diagnose it with you. I believe that powerhead is still under warranty. If it were to severely fail a leak down test, it would be covered under warranty.

Then i'd change the lower unit to a Gen 4. But that's just me.

Well I heard that the gen 3 preforms the best with weight. With bowfishing I would like to carry 4 people with an ice chest and at least be able to get on step. I talked with Mark "guy with the first comment". Once I get it back from the prop shop it it still isn't preforming I will bing it there. Something has to give though. Been fighting this for 2 years now.

Marcus will get you taken care of.
He's gone out of his way to help me out, with my boats, and my vehicles.

FYI, I started losing performance at 60hrs on my EFI and the first warranty head swap happened at about 80.

Talked to Marcus tonight. Said I had 20 % leakage rate on #1 cylinder and 40% on #2. Seems like that's where my troubles have been. He will get with Briggs tomorrow to see how they want to go about fixing it. I have never been so happy for bad news lol. Just happy to have some clarity on the problems I have been beating my head against the wall over.

Intake valves are blowing by on both cylinder heads. I will update Mr John as soon as I have information.
