Ok I'm tired of searching. Put a different stock carb on my 23 and got it all adjusted. Runs fine in the "neutral" position but once i lower the prop (out of water) it tries to die. Give it a little throttle and it comes back but its got me scratching my head. I'm thinking trash in my carb but i wanted to make sure it wouldnt be something electrical like a sensor before I tore down the carb again. Already tried pumping my primer bulb while lowering it to try and rule out fuel pump or fuel line leak. Cleaned the carb once already before i put it on the first time. |

Adjust your float level in the carb. Could be trash still but sounds like a float problem. |

Not real sure how to adjust a float with a plastic tab without breaking it |

Oil level sensor? Does it do it on the trailer? |

I have searched this little motor over and cant find a sensor anywhere. Yes it does it on the trailer too. Got me scratchin my head. I have another float that I'm gonna try in it this afternoon. |

That's very strange bc my motor which is the motor it came off of started doing this when I took it off and put the mikuni on. Once I adjusted the float I had no problems. That carb has been sitting a while before I sent it to you so it could have some varnish in it. Just took it off my work bench and threw it in the box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm wondering if it isnt operator error. Should i be able to go from the handle being on the floor to prop being all the way down without expecting the motor to die? And yes flint it is a long fuel line but it has a primer bulb. |

Does it have the proper amount of oil in the reservoir? |

Yes it does have the correct amount of oil(slightly over full) and Flint is right about the low oil shutoff. At least for my engine. The only two shutoffs go to the key and the killswitch. |

Overfull can cause excess pressure and cause it to stall, but it would take a little bit for that to happen. 20-30 seconds or so. |

unplug the wire that goes into the sensor on the side of your case (think its green) see if that solves it. faulty oil level sensor. If you are facing the motor should be on the right side of the case, about the only thing over there with a wire going to it. |

I dont have an oil pressure sensor. Only two ground wires coming from my coils are from my ignition and kill switch |

Actually took the boat out today and it does not actually do it in the water under normal conditions. I can keep the engine tilted up for a few seconds and then slam it down and it will die, but as far as just riding around it's no problem. Also with the carb dialed in this thing runs great. 20++ mph eating up whatever is limiting it to 4300rpm. Awesome holeshot. |

My 23 B&S LT did the same thing. Overfilling oil just a little bit affects the pulsations of the fuel pump. I used a marked container to fill the crankcase with exactly the amount of oil B&S called for. Also put a level on top of the air filter housing to be sure it was level when filling. It may be something else but that was my experience. |

I'll give that a shot. Probably need to change the oil anyway |
