I just purchased a 16ft tracker grizzly with a 22 hp vanguard go devil the other day. Nice boat and motor and took it out for the first time today and ran great the whole day. Was getting it up about 20 mph on the open water. Stopped for a little and went to start it back up and head to the launch and motor would barely get me up to 10 mph full throttle. its was like it would not kick into another gear. It would get up on the rpms if the prop was out of the water but if I put it in it would immediately go down on the rpm and start backfiring. It seemed like all of a sudden it didn't have the power any more to go. Just seeing if anyone may have any suggestions on what the issue may be. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Hope everyone is having a happy 4th!!

Check valve lash / push rods, and check that coils are firing. I would start there.

Air leak in the fuel line, fuel pump having issues, carb clogged.

I have a 23 go devil and have the exact same issue. Had the carb cleaned and no difference. Found gas in my oil. Talked to several people and most suggested buying a new carb. Will update when I purchase new cab.
