 Mudbuddy 35 swap to 37EFI
I searched over an hour and came up with nothing so here's my situation...I Had a chance to pick up a 37efi motor with low hours to replace my carb'd 35 on my 06 mbhd surface drive. I managed to get the motor mounted and retrofit wiring as best as I could tell was correct, looking at the older MB wiring diagram. The guy I got it from installed a separate switch to power the violet wire off the 6pin Deutsch connector(which he clipped off the back side of the connector). I was able to get the motor to prime when the auxiliary switch was pulled out, or closed, regardless of key position. Key switch did work properly to crank the motor and it fired right up. But, neither the key switch or the safety kill switch would kill the motor. From what I can tell I should be able to ground the orange/white safety interrupt wire listed in the 37efi repair manual and hopefully kill the motor?? Anybody confirm this? And, can I not just land the violet wire on the #2 normally open side of the ignition switch, so it gets power when the ignition is turned to the on position, but nothing in the off position? Any input here fellas? Thanks!!
