Hello all, Just wanted to introduce myself real quick before asking a question. My name is Rudi, I'm 22 years old, and I've been hunting all my life. I will be a senior at TCU this coming fall, and a buddy of mine got me addicted to duck hunting when I was a freshman. Before then I'd only been on guided shoots and never really had done DIY waterfowling other than a few goose hunts. (I used to be more of a bowhunter as a kid, love chasing whitetails and muleys with my bow). Anyways, I have a GoDevil 16 that I bought last December in the middle of duck season. I just bought a 16' flat bottom boat to mount that motor on, and I was wondering if anyone who has more mechanical expierence than I do could give me a few tips on how to get her running again. It ran just fine all the way through duck season, but I never disconnected the fuel lines or ran the engine out before storing it in my garage, I just left it as is, and now that a few months have gone by, I cannot get it to start. That motor is currently mounted on my old 14' boat in my garage. Let me know what you experts think! I want to save as much money as possible as I'm a broke college student. Thanks! |

Pull apart the carb and clean it up, it will have jets that need to be pulled and cleaned out too. They are probably gummed up with shit I'd change fuel lines and add fresh gas along with a half bottle of sea-foam in the tank. |

Just pull the carb off, drop the bowl off of it and spray the heck out of everything with aerosol carb cleaner. Pull the intake manifold off and do the same thing. That little Vanguard will fire right up....have done it too many times. Don't know why, but, that carb and intake will enamel up quick. Doesn't take long of sitting idle for it to get a little sluggish. |

I would after you get it running, if its gonna sit idle for more than a month, disconnect fuel line and run all the fuel out of carb, as its running out trying to die pull out choke to get the most fuel out carb. |
