I have a fairly new gravely mower with a kawasaki on it. I noticed the required oil has the ol school api ratings. I like to see that Kawasaki says they want an older formula oil. Mid 90's is when api SL came out and we started seeing cam failures. Then SM hung out for some years and now SN has been the standard on 90% of whats on the shelf at parts house. Alot of motorcycle shops like honda still have the older rating. Bla Bla Bla, it just caught my eye so heres a pic |

Word! I use Kinetix and or Rotella. The kinetix for sure has an older API rating. Its advertised for higher ZDDP packages, which is beneficial for the camshaft. |
