Post RPM question
I have a mud buddy 37 efi HDR with delta level 3 on it. The motor turns about 4200 rpms with just me or with 4 people. Does this sound about right? I thought it should've been a little higher. This is on a 17x51 boat.

Yeah I mean I can get more rpms out of it but the prop blows out. 4200 is the sweet spot

It's an efi motor but it seems like the throttle is getting full travel. I don't know the max rpms. I've just ran it where the prop was in the right spot.

Well I have no experience with EFI's motors, but it does seem like something is off, or not full travel on throttle cable.
Im sure you should be in the 4600-4700 rpm range empty boat

Yeah I thought it should at least be around 4500. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Check back in the morning pal.
I think you will get your answer from some knowledgeable folks when they wake up.

How fast does that 4200 take you, and how high is your rooster tail?

I was running 33.5 empty with just me. 29-30 with 4 people. Rpms were the same the whole time. Rooster tail about 3 ft I guess. Prop halfway out of the water

I would say your mph is good exspecially for low rpm. Could be alot of prop or boat has some character or a combo of the two

I believe it is a 12 pitch prop. Boat is all .125 with cat walks, extended deck, trays on each side, and driver and passenger dry box

I happen to have a 1751 excell in the shop now. Its only got 37 inches of flat before the tapers start. Im no hull expert but ive noticed that when there isnt much true flat bottom surface the rear of the boat runs deeper and can act weird

that speed is what you should be running. if you want more rpms, dump some pitch out of that prop. welcome to the prop game.

I've got the Prodigy 1854 with all the same features plus 2 batteries and 24 inch sidewalls. I've had it at 33 mph with me (230 lbs) and 2 labs (75 lbs each) in deep water. I'm running around 4700 rpm to hit my top speeds. Rooster tail about 15 - 20 ft. I just got it and its my first mud rig... so i'm certainly no expert at this.
