Oil filter ?
Have a new Mud Buddy EFI 37 HDR wondering if anyone knows the part number to the oil filter or what oil filter you can use don’t know if it has the check valve in it like the carbureted motors ? I know it’s kind of a dumb question but thanks for any input. My motor is painted so therefore I can’t read the part number on the sticker that’s painted over .

Re: Oil filter ?
What is the difference between the 842921 and the 492932? First oil change on my 37efi. It came from the factory with 492932, but I purchased the 842921. I thought perhaps the part number was superseded but found both filters at multiple vendors. Is there a difference in internal spring pressure perhaps? I don't want to mess up a brand new engine... Cannot find anything in search feature pertaining to this...

Re: Oil filter ?
Theres an excellent oil filter thread on here somewhere. Do a search. It's at least a couple years old, has a lot of cross reference part numbers for different brands. If you're going with Briggs, theres a long and a short one, didnt know there were 2 of the same length available. That's probably the difference between those.

Re: Oil filter ?
Thanks Russ, I think the 's' on the 492932 's' designates a short filter, I cannot find any threads in the search feature that pertains to the 492932 vs. 842921 differences tho. Mud Buddy's recent live broadcast stated to use the 492932 but if you look up big block 993 Briggs it will state either filter depending on the way the wind blows...I want to make sure I'm using the right one. The filters look identical and both have a internal valve, but there has to be some difference...

Re: Oil filter ?
Sear for oil filter cross reference or something like that. It isnt focused on the Briggs options, but they're mentioned. Considering maxxis recommended that part number for stock replacement, it'd be the one I went with. He builds these things so he probably knows which is right. Personally, I use a purolator or Mobil option, but that's because I can always find one at advance or autozone without ordering or driving around town.
