New coils and timing key?
Looking for a little info. I’m replacing the coils on a 2004 35hp, the new coils came with the new offset timing key. Does anyone know if this key advances or retards the timing? And how much? Also what size is the flywheel nut? 32 mm?

Re: New coils and timing key?
Someone else on here had that question a while back and he found an answer. Not sure where the thread is. Seems like his was a 32 . For a 35 non cdi I'm not sure why there would be an offset key

Re: New coils and timing key?
Just did it on my 2009 gtr it is to advance the timing seems like it burns better during the combustion over a stock key...should also give you a little more top end power. I believe it was a 32mm socket on the flywheel but as well

Re: New coils and timing key?
It looks like the key they sent me would retard the timing?(rotating flywheel counter clockwise)

Re: New coils and timing key?
Yeah it says to install with the painted end out, which I believe will retarded timing. Have heads and cam in this one so was thinking about advancing timing. Going by the book for now, paint out. Can pull it apart again if I have to...

Re: New coils and timing key?
Yes, it retards the timing.
The new coils are made differently and the key re-sets the timing back to the original spec.

Re: New coils and timing key?
Do the new coils for the non cdi motors have the built in rev limiter?

My rev limiter can hold a cold beer too!
