Post 35hp vanguard high speed package
Anybody ordered one of these with the high speed(4750rpm) package? Or at least know what’s different on the engine that’s allowing it to spin these rpm?

High rev coils. The stock coils on a Briggs are 4250 or 4300.

And these motors don’t turn that high of rpms, while stock. There’s nothing that “makes” them turn those rpms.
Theres just nothing stopping them at 4300 like Russ said. Now it stops them at 4750 rpms

So what you’re telling me is they don’t do anything internally? It’s just the coil and that’s it... seems like you’d be compromising the reliability without a few internal mods... am I correct in this assumption?

Nope. Putting a higher limit coil only means it is governed electronically higher than the plain stock coils. It still has a mechanical governor. It's also not capable of pushing a boat above 4200ish rpms in all but a handful of cases, much less spin 4750. Stock internals are holding up at 4700 rpms all the time, so raising the coils limit doesn't hurt anything.

They probably do that knowing if you mod, you'll need the higher limit coils, so it keeps you from having to buy a different set after the mods.

The only difference is the newer motors with the 4750 limit has stiffer valve springs (to keep the valves from floating at the higher rpm)
