For you guys and gals with a newish motor, unhook your regulators if you're going to run your engine, unhook the battery if it's sitting. Briggs has started contacting dealers/manufacturers and people are starting to get calls. Until you know if your engine is affected, better to be safe than have to deal with a fire because of a busted regulator.

For those that don't care, keep a fire extinguisher handy. The term used is "regulator may spontaneously combust". Only 1 or 2 engines my ass.....

Not exactly a recall, but replacing the voltage regulators. Models affected: 613477-0023J1 and 61E477-0009J1
Check your model numbers.

Russ do you know the years of the brands these motors are sitting on?

Nope. I don't know the year codes hidden within that model code (the part after the dash). Check your model number. It'll probably be sometime late in 2017 to now, but could have started earlier.
