Sounds like cat is out of the bag. Both GT and MB have a ( ALL NEW ) 40 EFI coming April 1st And Back water will have that block and make a 52 . Just saying boys ( this is the word ) |

Larry Hoeschen was at my house last Friday/Saturday and had the 40 on a 1852 Alweld Mud Hull. That exhaust on the 40 sounds way mo’ better than the stock 37EFI exhaust IMO. In other news, I’ll make someone a good deal on a 37 SWOMP Lite with less than 25 hours on it! |

I spoke to Pro Drive yesterday and they confirmed the same thing- 40hp Briggs EFI. I asked what they are doing to get the extra horse power, they are decking the heads and tweaking the cam is what I was told. The question will be the quality of the work 1, and 2. Three hp gain- yawn. But, their comment was that it had some real power, so their must be more to it. The good news is that you will have a full warranty on the mods. |

Without the muffler, that same engine from Briggs is around 47 hp (not a guess, actual info from someone involved in the testing that ran it on a dyno). So a simple muffler change to open it up some should be the equivalent of exhaust and headwork on a 37 efi. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

Because I live under a cypress log and I don't read MMT like I should, I didn't know about the new 40hp Briggs officially becoming available until I was told about it at the boat show yesterday. Heard rumors, but no hard evidence. Since yesterday, everyone I have mentioned it to says "Where you been? Living under a cypress log? We already knew that you cooyon!!" So anyway...both of the mud motor mfgs represented at the show confirmed the arrival of the new engine sometime after April. Both said they had test rigs that they have been testing and the results are a phenomenal (??) increase in "performance" (neither would define "performance") and are being evaluated, but neither had written info or videos to confirm that. All either of them would say to that was "you'll be pleasantly surprised". Could I construe that to mean that they would each give me one for evaluation? Nope, they didn't bite. One said the new engine will come with the full 3 year warranty and any bolt-on power enhancements will NOT affect warranty. The other mfg knew about the warranty but did not know how add-ons affected that. Both agreed that a simple muffler upgrade would loosen up 3 more hp. Again, me no see dyno, me not convinced. Both also said that the new engine's claim to fame in the performance aspect was the greater amount of low end torque that will be available. Didn't see graphs or T/P curves however. Neither could tell me if the block is a new or existing unit. Since this engine has been out for a while in testing, has anyone run across any displacement numbers for comparison?? One mfg is so convinced that this will revolutionize the MM world, that they will no longer be selling mod engines after current inventory is depleted. All very interesting and since I'm in the market for an upgrade this spring, and my wife is filthy rich, maybe I'll be the guinea pig for this 40 hp beast to munch on once it shows up on a production MM. |
