GT 37 EFI Issue
I purchased a 2016 GT 37EFI in 2016 (new). The motor currently has roughly 220 hours on it and has been meticulously maintained (oil changes and general maintenance). The motor is losing power under a load and bogging down (wont get on a plane and pushing a little higher rpms than usual). When the engine is not under a load it seems to run just fine. The wiring harness was replaced and that seemed to fix the problem temporarily, however now the engine seems to be doing the same thing. The GT certified mechanic cant find what is causing the problem. Has anyone had a similar issue? If so what was the diagnosis? I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks

Re: GT 37 EFI Issue
Im not exactly sure what test they did, according to the mechanic they have "tried everything"..... I will ask if they specifically did a leak down test. Thanks for the advise

Re: GT 37 EFI Issue
Also how's the prop? Less hole shot and higher rpms could just be a worn prop. I'd check that and do a leakdown first to see if the valves leaking.

Re: GT 37 EFI Issue
prop is in excellent condition. You can actually feel and hear the motor failing to deliver power.

Re: GT 37 EFI Issue
You need a proper diagnosis man. Start with mechanics and simple things. No air leaks in fuel lines, valve lash, good plugs. From there verify your fuel pumps are indeed working. Then you can check for fuel pressure (need a special adapter) to verify 39 psi at the fuel rail. Most issues are harness related but they are not the issue all the time... Loaded you need to have everything working as that's when the most demand for air and fuel is needed.

Re: GT 37 EFI Issue
Thanks for the help MaXX. I am at the mercy of the mechanic. I hope that those would be the first things they have checked. I will reiterate all of those things next time i speak with them.

Re: GT 37 EFI Issue
Sadly not many are capable of properly fixing the units. Any competent mechanic who buys the tools can repair it. Briggs has a good tech system to help with issues aswell...
