Post Dipstick tube broken on 2014 Sport V
Asking if anyone out in Mudmotorland has had or know of anyone who has had their dipstick tube break off on their Mudbuddy Sport V? Talked to Keeth at Mudbuddy and he stated first he heard of such. Unfortunately, Briggs & Stratton does not have this part available ( dipstick yes, but tube is with the total engine). B&S suggested to get welded back up......yes, common answer, but was thinking more on some type of fabrication. Have spoken to friends who have Sport V models and Pro Drive models.....none have heard of anyone suffering this issue. Any feedback would be appreciated (and REALIZE some will be directed at owning a Sport V in the first place!!!!! )

Maybe someone with a busted crankcase cover could help you out. I'm not sure how hard it is to remove.

Check with the mudmotor shops. They get the pleasure of rebuilding engines from time to time that tossed a rod through the side of a case or cracked a block for some other reason. I bet one of them has an old case in the back of the shop with a vertucal dipstick tube they could pull out and mail your way for cheap. They are just friction fit, fairly easy to remove and replace.

If there is enough of the tube still sticking out you could get a rubber hose to fit the outside of the 2 pieces and use some hose clamps to put it back together until you can replace it.

Talked to the Boat Doctor this morning....first he heard of such. Recommend not to pull out remaining dipstick tube, as could break off just trying to remove from block. $1000 would fix with new block, so have set screw (5/16" diameter, 3/4" length) for the time being. Can be removed to check on oil level, secured with 2 nylon washers. Will find out this week if holds in place.

Let's try this again. Contact maxxis (bayou surface drives), or will (Texas Mud motors), or Nick willey (willey fast) and see if they have a tube in a busted block, and see about getting it from them. I pulled the tube out of a vertical, plugged the hole, and put a new tube in the horizontal position when I rebuilt my engine. No reason you shouldn't be able to swap the broken dipstick tube for a good one.
