Motor is a 2011 35hp gdsd. I have had my valve lash checked/adjusted and carb cleaned adjusted. Had trouble with idling before having work done. Had it “fixed” and after 1 trip it’s back to not idling. Give it a little gas and it’s fine but let off the throttle
And it jumps down to 6-700 rpm and slowly falls till dying. Should I just adjust the idle screw or mess with the governed idle spring .

Stock carb ???

If yes - do you still have an idle spring - or has it been lost ???

Adjust the idle to be at 1250 out of water, then adjust the air fuel mixture. Readjust the idle if necessary to 1250. Report back.

I’ve done 2 things to fix idle.

1. Pull the slack out of the throttle cable (1/4”-1/2”)
2. Turn idle screw. In my case no more than 1/4 turn. If you turn too much you’ll know it when you crank it up.

Adjust that screw while it's running after it's warmed some. Can't set to a specific rpm if you adjust it while it's off. Air mixture screws too. Can't see if they're correct without it running.

Adjust after it has warmed up, too.
