Starter issues
Hey guys. I have a 2017 GTR 37 and on two diff occasions it wouldn’t start. It asked as if the starter was stuck so I removed the plastic shroud and pecked on the starter pretty hard and eventually got it started. Anyone had a similar problem? Should I replace to starter in order to not worry about this thing. I bought a new boat in 17 in order to not worry about these kinds of things. A boat that won’t start is like a wife that wont - - - -. Not good!!!!!!!!

Re: Starter issues
Check all connections from battery to the starter lug. If the issue persists, please send it in for warranty repair.

Or, you can wait for Russ to give you his thoughts on Briggs' starters! LOL
Sorry, Russ...couldn't pass on the opportunity to capitalize on your starters!

Re: Starter issues
I have found as Maxxis pointed out that 9/10 times its a bad ground or connection somewhere. Rarely do these starters go out.
Was there a "Click" or anything and the starter didnt engage? Or just no click no nothing?

Re: Starter issues
Need to make sure that the yellow wire is making good connection and has 12V when you turn the key, and your battery is in good shape (don't just assume because it's kinda new, or it's a quality brand, etc), and every connection is tight from the battery to the starter and on the key switch. They aren't a typical failure point, regardless of my history with them, so run all that other stuff down. If all of that checks out, pull the starter and make sure the bendix doesn't look rusted.

Re: Starter issues
Thanks guys. I will double check all connections. I did leave out the fact that it did click. That is what lead me to thinking it was a starter issue rather than a connection issue.
