Post Stage 2
I’m getting ready to install a stage 2 kit on my 37 HDR. I’ve replaced cams on lawn mowers before but not a mud motor. My question is will I be able to pull the case with the power head still mounted on the mud buddy base or will I need to pull the whole power head off and put it on a table? It looks like the hardest part is going to be taking off and re installing the out drive. Thanks for in input !

you have to remove the outdrive and belt box. The clutch is a Pain in the butt. Resurface or replace lifters assembly lube it all up, get mating surfaces clean, seal the case back up!

I pull the power head out allows you to prop up rat of power head. Makes cleaning allot easier, I recommend labeling wiring and taking pictures, after that it's not too bad. Gator trax has a detailed video on how to remove outdrive. You'll not need crows feet for hdr though. Hit me up if you have any issues, oh order a belt tension gauge, and keep planetary together during removal if you can. There is an oring that's easily damaged

Thanks, I was hopping to get out of handing to unwirie everything other than the magnet wires on the out drive. I’m going to order the belt tension gauge when I order the stage 2 parts.
