Post Slow excel and 37efi
After breaking in my mb37efi. We took it out this year and only got 22mph per gps. Is that typical and what can I do with that setup for more speed..
This was empty with three people( 700 lbs)

I know I can put a cuda kit on or change to a lighter hull( mine is .125) but I feel the need for speed...

After a dog and a hunting load, it would obviously slow down more

Steve

Figure that's not too far off, but it is a couple mph low. How many rpms are you turning, is your prop worn (measure it), and what does a compression test show on each cylinder?

Maybe 12 hours on it. Big blade. Have not done a compression test...what compression should it have and do I need to change plugs after break in?

It kinda struggled some last year with a full load

And that is about 4000-4100 rpm

Props can get worn in no time and lose some bite. Never hurts to have fresh plugs, but 12 hours isnt very many on a set. Rpms sound right, but trim level and prop wear affect that, and the ability to carry loads. Compression ought to be 150ish.

When all said and done you are probably going to need a stage 1 motor to feel like it's doing its job without effort

I wouldn't be going with the high volume places. Texasmudmotors, Bayou surface drives and a couple other good guys will take the time to do it right

Great info...thanks for the specific shops to inquire about

What is a stable hp to expect for an increase from the 37 efi?

Don’t want it to go a season then grenade itself after 10 hours

I actually think that Briggs and Stratton translates to Grenade in all other languages.

With 36ish hours total, mind you.

Couldn't get the pic to post and was busy at work. Thanks for posting.
