Re: what to do?
You can do a mild port/polish on the heads if u have a grinder or dremel. Only cost would be replacing old gaskets.

Re: what to do?
Theres no need for anybody to talk shit online. It's pointless. It doesn't make u any More of a man. If all u want to spend is a grand then shave ur heads .030 thousands/ port polish heads/ intake. And get carb work and u will be more than happy with a reliable motor. No more crap talkin everybody!!

Re: what to do?
I did the same thing on the same approximant budget last year. I added a BPS Mikuni single kit, BPS crossover muffler. I am personally more impressed with the smooth consistent idle and low end torque that it added rather than its top end speed, which did increase. I think this is a very good setup, and has been reliable the last few months and I dont plan to do any more mods. Take Care...

Re: what to do?
If it were me...I'd do the heads and buy a good exhaust, tweak the govenor for few hundred more RPMs and let her rip....w/ BPS new quiet stainless you should get out for around 6-700 tops-
Personally...I don't think the Mikuni's are worth the coin

Re: what to do?
there needs to be section on this forum that you have to stay on until you have "so" any post.
Some of you guys just start off being dickheads and then no one will want to help you. Come on here and be cool, ignore any ribbing you get from people (i.e. develop thick skin) and start building relationships.
Also before you jump on here and post something, please use the search feature and check out what people have said on the subject before. Nearly everything about every motor has been talked about before and see if that answers your question.
As far as spending a grand on modding your motor....
Ide say get a performance exhaust, do a little head work (pm coondik) then save up for some carb work.
You'll notice a difference.
