2018/19 40HP GTR , HDR , Boss
Guys I seriously can not decide what motor to go with. I have researched and read reviews on all of them this past week. There is some things I like and dislike about each one of these motors. I have a few questions and thought this would be the best place to ask. 1. Does one of the 3 vibrate less? 2. Does one of the 3 have less tiller torque ? 3. What is the pros and cons of the gear driven Boss ? If any of y’all have bought the newest model of any 3 and had issues please explain what it was. Thanks.

I think it’s all a Ford Chevy debate. I think you’ll be happy with whatever you go with. They are all nice enough now days. Just pick one that meets all your criteria and buy from a place that you’ll get good service.

1. Vibration depends on a balanced prop. 2. Tiller torque depends on balanced prop, proper weight distribution, and proper alignment of your motor. 3. Pro Drive and Boss are both gear driven. A belt can be replaced on the water, gears can't. Gear drive is slower. Pro to PD gear drive is that you get full power reverse. Really not sure the pro to boss gear drive. Never been around one, but heard the gears are loud and slow. I'm sure there are pros, I just don't know what they are.
