Post subject:  Prodrive mechanic needed

Looking for a mechanic in Louisiana who is familiar with prodrive motors. I have an older model that has a small oil leak and exhaust leak. Would like to get the leak fixed and exhaust changed before duck season opens. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I used to be that guy, But I since moved to Texas.
Oil leak is usually case gasket.
That requires remving the powerhead, clutch, motor plate, cover, ect
$400 labor for removal and replace
$100 ish to machine the internals for use of Yamabond 4 sealant
$100 for fluids, filters, cleaners, rags, sealant,
Plus gaskets for whatever else is leaking. Also if the clutch is seized or spline adapter, add additional labor.

throw some lucas oil stop leak in the engine, and take the muffler off and bring it to t-boy to weld up. cheapest way I know how to fix it.

my pd been leaking oil for years, I just put lucas or stp in it to slow down the leak and park it with the motor trimmed up so it don't leak out overnight.

good luck.

By the placement of the orange pooky you may have a blown head gasket. I would get it checked out asap. It could hurt more parts if not addressed.

if it's leakin where that orange stuff is it's probly a blown head gasket. when the motor gets hot it will leak worse. not hard or expenisve to fix if you don't let it go too long. it will rob power. get it looked at by a friend or mech when u find one.

good luck.

Squirting gasket sealer in between the heat sink fins isn't going to do anything... as you found out. If you aren't comfortable removing the exhaust and replacing the head gasket, I'd take Russ up on the offer. Just get a new head gasket and exhaust gaskets. Get a couple valve cover gaskets and hit Russ up to check/adjust the valves while he's at it.
