I've been out of the loop for a while when we did the Kawasaki swap, but did briggs change anything in the head design from the 35/36 to the 37 and now the 40? Same block cc, appears the be the same, but are they direct bolt ups? Rocker bosses, push rods, valves, valve size, better castings, etc?

The 35/36 is the original. 37 got a half mm bigger intake valve and better valvejob on the intake. The 40 shows same part number as 37 on heads

I will say this.. porting heads the 37s seem to have larger ports by a little bit. I see tons of casting inconsistencies.

Reason I ask Marcus is you that set of head I showed you had the crack. Buddy has another set of plain jane stock heads that i'm gonna use off of a fairly new motor (not EFI, but CDI). The cracked heads have been tig welded up and cleaned up and Ill keep as an emergency backup set if needed. If this 4400 block craters, Ill be looking to purchase a 40efi. These plane jane heads that I'll work could be bolted on the new 40efi, while I work those new heads. Just trying to think ahead.

We use to have a lot of engine builders on the site, but there are only a few left. Everyone looking for bolt on power and I got so caught up in the Kawi build that the briggs just slipped my mind.
