Post subject:  Magneto and PTO Bearing

Anyone here ever changed out the magneto and/or PTO bearings on a Vanguard 35 Non CDI? Have a motor that I'm thinking about rebuilding and debating on whether or not to try to do a bearing swap while I have it apart. Haven't measured out the wear on current bearings yet cause still running the boat hunting. Heard the PTO doesn't really change out and you have to buy a new cover or find someones old cracked cover and remove bearing. Not sure how bad the magneto bearing is either. Looking for any useful advice. Thanks.

Usually the flywheel side will look pretty good even on some oldies. Not sure if the bearing is even avail anymore. When it was available it was 200$ ish. If you need a rear set then just grab a cover. Briggs used to even have a service tool set for them. I've used my cam bearing tool for big motors and worked good. These days I just buy new parts as needed

Front bearing is available for about $250 plus labor to swap it.
