| Post subject: | Vanguard 35 block bolts torque setting and sequence ? |
Hello, I was reading through the forums and saw several posts about oil leaking, block gaskets and the need to torque the block some time after the break in period. I have recently bought a 2012 GTR with a 35 Briggs Vanguard engine and have noticed a very small amount of oil leakage at the seam above to the left of the oil filter on occasion. I want to try to torque the bolts because I don't know if its ever been done and it might just tighten up some. Can anyone tell me the torque setting and if there should be a sequence to torque the bolts? |

Check the sticky in the engines section for torque numbers, and I'll look for the torque sequence. It's been posted a few times. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

As Russ said, check the sticky for more information. Good stuff there. Here is a post with the torque sequence: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15860&start=40 |

if Its leaking, Send it to someone to do a gasket delete/ machine the internals of the motor. From there your issues will go away. |

Thanks very much for the information. I' m new to the forum and will look for the " stickies". I took a screen shot of the sequence. I am going to change the oil and filter today and put the 2 1/2 quarts recommended by Duval at Gator Tail yesterday. He said use 15W -50 full synthetic. I have not figured out how to get my motor to be completely level to check it with the dipstick. going to work on that. Thanks again. paulo985 |
