Post subject:  35 vanguard problem

I have recently acquired a 2010 35 GDSD and I am having problems with getting it to idle. When tilted up it will start, run and idle just fine, as soon as I lower it down it starts to stall out and will die if I don't hit the throttle. It does this in the water and also on the trailer. I can eventually get it to idle on the trailer when down but it will not idle in the water. It runs great WOT and everything in between, just not idle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Could be as simple as as setting the float and making idle circuits adjustable. Could need a valvejob

What is involved in doing a valve job? Is this something I would have to take to a mechanic to do?

If you are a mechanic you could probably do the job. I would do a leakdown test and set valves first to verify if valves are even the problem. It's possible that it's a simpler fix such as correcting idle fuel

I've also seen floats set a little high and dumping extra fuel when motor is tilted back.

I'm definatly not a mechanic. I am going to try the governor idle adjustments and see where that gets me. If not, I'm not sure where to take it. I am in the Dallas area. Not any mud motor dealers in texas I don't think.
