Post Vanguard 35 HD carburetor part question
So I went to clean out my carburetor for the first time. 2010 vanguard 35 HD Sport. Trying to get the bowl screws off I gripped the body too hard and this little part broke off.

Looks like some micro adjust dial but I can’t tell the function. It has one for both sides.
The break didn’t take it out of the carburetor, just made it to where there is no ability to control the adjustment I assume it makes.
Can anyone tell me what it does and if it makes a difference in our motors?
TIA

That is your Air / Fuel idle screw.

You would really need to get it fixed so you don't have any idle issues.

Thank you for the response. That was my first post. I apologize for the lazy question. In the time between I wrote it and it being approved I actually found the information about it on this forum. I’ve been reading a ton of old posts to soak up some knowledge on these engines as I want to begin getting better performance out of mine and I’d like to do it myself as much as possible. Breaking off the afr idle needle knob on my first carb cleaning was not a good start.

Pull the heads, ship in a USPS flat rate box. Cost you 14 bucks to ship.

Your leakdown will probably show decent leakage from the intake valve seat. If needed you can send me the top end including carb, heads, intake etc. I will set it up and send it back. Let us know what u find with leakdown

The stinking leak down test kit I ordered on amazon arrived today but it’s defective junk. I’ll have to order another kit from a different MFG and get those numbers next week.

I could see a bunch of black deposit on the cylinder head when I peered down in there. I have no doubt I might be losing pressure but I’d like to know the severity.

Will C I will probably take you up on your offer once I get good baseline numbers of the engine.

I'm in the same boat as you Houghtonic, my adjustment screws broke also and had I replaced the one cylinder head this far(leaking intake) and now it's time to fix the other. Should I buy another new Oem cylinder or just send them both in to somebody to get re-worked??? Then look into getting a Mikuni vs repairing the stock carb?
