35 hp Godevil SD upgrades
I've got a lead on a 35 hp godevil surface drive thats got a mikuni carb and dual exhaust. What kind of performance should be gained from those upgrades?

well, it will probly be a lot louder than stock. don't know about carb, except it will be harder to work on/get right vs, stock setup. if it's already set up, then disreguard.

Re: 35 hp Godevil SD upgrades
You may gain a couple MPH but nothing major unless the heads have been worked or a cam installed. My 35GDSD that was basically stock was good for 25-26 with a light load on my 1860. On my buddies lightweight Alumaweld1650 it does 33 so far and it’s not even dialed in all the way yet. GDSD is a good step up from a GDLT as they handle similar and it’s much less of a learning curve than some of the other motors. I just got a Mudbuddy HD5000 and the Electric Trim is gonna take some getting used to. The only reason I went to the Mud Buddy was because I basically even traded my well maintained super reliable GDSD that never let me down but I was gonna stage 2 or 3 to for a project motor with all that done already.

Re: 35 hp Godevil SD upgrades
Yeah the motor already has carb and dual exhaust installed so I plan on leaving it like that for the time being.
Thanks for the input. My boat is a 1644 godevil with a couple add-ons nothing too heavy and I saw a review on here where a guy had a 1644 with stock 35 going around 30 unloaded. I'll be plenty happy with that since I don't like hitting logs going super fast anyway, I'm just curious as to what kind of performance I'm gonna get.

From a carb and exhaust, you won't notice much other than it being loud as hell. Heads will complete the "breathing treatment" that an open exhaust and carb will allow. If heads are junk and leaking, doesn't matter if it has EFI, you won't notice a thing.
