Post subject:  35 main bearring

Does anybody have he part number for the main crank bearrings/ bushings in the crank cover or a 35 vanguard? I’ve looked in the parts manual and can’t make out what’s what I’m it. Mines showing a little brass and wanna change it while i have it apart, any info is appreciated

You cant purchase the rear bearing. You need a new cover, You can only service the front bearing. It is $250 ish You also need a special tool to service the front bearings.

Ive seen them way worse. Its from too much belt tension, and also removing the crankcase cover with rust on the end of the crank.

Yeah.., Guilty of both. Lesson learned tho. Just ordered a new cover for 250$. I appreciate the info!

if you find someone with a trashed cover but good bearings you can have a engine shop swap out the babbit bearing. BEEN THERE, didnt go too bad actually just found someone with a cracked cover and and good bearing.

I found a whole short block on eBay a while back brand new for $500... I end up just getting that instead of replacing bearings. Couldn’t believe how expensive they are!
