Post Pro drive on round chine boat
I plan on putting a PD 36 on a round chine GD hull. Would love to buy a new hull but it’s just not in the cards right now. Ive read a couple threads on here but there is not a ton of info, specific to a round chine GD hull. Anyone have any experience here or knowledge of what to look out for?

I already expect to have to build up the transom height due to the PD being a long shank.

TIA

The guy I bought my 1844 go devil hull from on here, jbois I think was his handle, had a pro drive on the back of it before I got it. Don’t know if he cruises the forums any more though.

I don't have a GD but my hull is round chine and it's excellent. Cuts real well. Porpoises in hard turns if I don't have enough weight in the boat rather than sliding but its rare that I run it bare bones.

I would check with Go devil. Main consideration for me is not chine but the weight of flotation boxes,Prodrive Motor, and hydraulic pumps best guess 360 lbs plus battery 50-60 lbs then add the driver weight all on the back end of a 44 ( probably 48 as they often only measure flat surface ). I’ve seen a similar Gatortrax set up on a 1850 round chine and his main complaint was that the rear end sat so low at idle speeds. I suppose you could sfhift your load upfront to compensate. Might explain the other comment on porpoising.

It will work fine.

A little slower than some and a little faster than others.

It’s an 1844 Bryce. After getting my hands on the motor this weekend, I am somewhat worried about the weight compared to the long tail that used to be on the boat. Gonna be taxing the transom. I’m now thinking that is will have to reinforce in addition to building it taller, just to be safe

The only issue you may have is the transom angle which can be easily be fixed with some shims.

Round chine are so much better in turns and curves. If you have to beef up the transom, my dad and I did two boats with turnbuckles that worked wonders and allows you to take the brace off if you ever need to for any reason. If you want a pic of what we built, pm me and I can send you a pic. Cost about 40 bucks to put together and has worked perfectly in both the boats we put them on

The chine has nothing to do with the motor, it simply causes drag on the inside of your turn to help turn the boat. As long as the transom height is correct and it's a flat bottom, it will perform.
