Post 37 EFI upgrade
I have a 37EFI sport-v on a 1854 prodigy. Does great with 2x guys, a dog and equipment. Have a real hard time getting on plane with a 3rd guy, not happening with wind and waves. I could care less about speed.. just need enough to get on step quick and safe.

1. Any recommendations for simple upgrades? I've done the muffler and k&N filter. Thought about adding a fuel programmer much the way I did with my Harley- intake, tuner, exhaust = about 6-10HP. Looking at the BPS caiman that would include heads and tuner but hear delta makes a good EFI upgrade as well.

2. How difficult are the upgrades to install? I’m a decent enough mechanic with a craftsman tool set but usually save the snap-on stuff for the pros. So replacing the heads might be doable but valves, pistons, and cams might not. Trying to finish this up over a couple of weekends. Duck season at the latest!

3. A youtube video coupled with a 12 pack will get me through most garage projects. I been searching around haven't been able to find any vids so far. any recommendations for sites with directions for installing briggs upgrades?

Thanks fellas.. hope ya'll are enjoying a cold one this weekend.

Just get your heads worked by Marcus (Maxxis on here) or Will C.

I'm just north of Nashville TN so limited options for taking somewhere local. Why I was hoping to knock out the upgrade in my garage. Good info about the throttle body.

They can do the headwork, ship them back, and you bolt them back on. The heads fit in a flat rate box for shipping. 15 bucks or so.

Right on.. thought it'd be more to ship. About how many horses can you expect to get out of having the heads and throttle body reworked? Contact info for Marcus and Will C.? Assuming Willet Customs. Probably just PM them here..

Appreciate the feedback

Just PM Marcus (maxxis on this forum) or Will (Will C on the forum). Either should be along shortly and both are highly reputable.

Headwork gains are quite noticeable. Best bang for the buck in most all cases.

Will C is Texas Mud Motors. Maxxis is Marcus with Bayou Surface Drives.

Dunno about actual numbers, but the difference is significant even without opening the case and putting in a cam. My dad's with mild crappy headwork went from not quite planing 3 with gear to planing 4 with gear in a 1652. What those guys will do isn't crappy.
