Max RPM's
I just picked up a new to me 2015 Pro-Drive with a 37hp EFI motor. I love the crap out of this thing! People up here in Michigan are like what the hell is that thing....LOL I'm just curious what is the max rpm I should be running this thing at for longer periods? I don't want to burn up my motor. Thanks for your help! New to the mud boats and love that I can get back where nobody else goes fishing.

Re: Max RPM's
It being a 2015, it likely has a gen 3 lower unit with a 2:1 gear ratio. These usually run pretty high rpm. My guess is 4500-4600 at 25/26 mph. Bogging an engine is harder on it than letting it rev. Just keep a good prop on it and let it roll

Re: Max RPM's
I do know the PO said it had the older gearing. Thanks for the info. Do these have a rev limiter?

Re: Max RPM's
It does have rev limit, run it and let it eat, if it sounds like it's skipping, that's the limit, back off a hair.

Re: Max RPM's
Just to clarify because from your post, it appears that you are new to these things. It doesn't have a "rev limiter", so if you and your buddy's start looking around for the "rev limiter" to possibly "bypass it" or "modify it", there isn't one. The rev limiter is made into the coils and will cut spark thus acting like a rev limiter. That's why Will said what he said about skipping or cutting out, just back off throttle a little or pitch your prop to run WFO all the time. But you may have already read that in other posts.

Re: Max RPM's
Yes you are correct banded-mallard I am new to these motors. Thank you for clarifying as it helped out. I'm a mechanic and fabricator so I do know a enough to get me in trouble...LOL I guess my main concern was running it WFO and blowing the motor so now I know I can let her rip!

Re: Max RPM's
4500 RPM’s was a sweet spot when I had the Gen 3. The Gen 4 I had ran best at 4100.
