My Trim motor was acting up and needed to be replace. Last year it needed to be replaced and it was done by the dealer under warranty. They put an OEM part on. I was currious what was available for aftermarket parts. I found a few, but only one with good reviews. The others had real bad reviews. The after market trim motor was only $100, and the OEM part is about $250. Because they are easy to swap out and my old OEM one only lasted a year I figured I would give this aftermarket one a shot. At that price, not much to lose One thing I like about the after market trim motor is that the wires come out of the top of the motor rather than the bottom. Because of how they are oriented when the unit is installed it seems they will take less abuse from water, mud and other stuff. In the pics below you can see that the wires also seem to have a better water tight fit. 20190724_161334.jpg 20190724_161344.jpg 20190724_172755.jpg I should have taken a pick of the O rings from both motors. The O ring that came with the aftermarket motor was maybe 1/4 the thickness of the OEM O ring. When I first installed the aftermarket motor with the O ring it came with it would leak hydrolic fluid when in use. So I took it apart and used the OEM ring. Because of the slight difference in size of the housings the OEM ring was a little too big, but I made it work and it does not leak now. The wiring harness that was on the aftermarket pump seems identical as the OEM motor. Once it was all hooked up and running it seem to be working great. It does sound slightly different, but basically the same. |

I've been running a trim pump motor from DB Electric for the last 3 seasons. Just replaced one on my sons MB 7000 from them. They have several different styles to fit most any application at very reasonable prices. |
