Post subject:  DIY Head Porting

I did some searching but couldnt find any good info. Trying to get some insight on if anyone has ported their own heads. I have a low budget but am flush with time, I will have all winter to work on these. Besides lapping the valves and making the airways angle in vs sharp corners.

Yeah, I did all of mine. Its a little more than that, but if you know what your doing, you can save some coins. But remember:
there are those that know what they are doing
and
there are those that KNOW what they are doing.

You can easily mess them up trying to hog them out thus having "lazy" throttle response. velocity is your friend.

You need a real 3 angle valve job. Not just a lapping. And an upgrade to stainless valves at the same time would be a wise investment. While having those done, you should have them decked. And....well...you see where this is heading.

Guess where all the guys that KNOW what they're doing started.... Read up on it and rock out. If you are meticulous to detail, you can do it and learn. Then have the pride that you did it.

Read up on David Vizard and search for his book about cylinder head porting. It tell you the areas to focus on.
