I have a young friend with a 1754 roundchine. Fresh ish 40 powerhead on an hd frame. Boat has the good ol double hook. Runs 26. He loves his boat. I mentioned if u fix that hull you could probably hit 30. His eyes lit up. He stripped out the floors, cut open the huntdeck and got all the wet foam out. I gave him a tutorial on shrinking aluminum. He tapped on this boat for 3 or so days. Then today he added several pieces of 1x2 aluminum in between the factory runners to beef it up. He half ass learned how to use a spool gun today. Now its semi wrapped up and going for testing tomorrow. I loaned him a 12p rapid in case the bigblade cant get it done. Wish this guy some luck. Im proud to meet some younger folk willing to go for it |

If that doesn’t work for him with completely removing the hooks, you can do marine epoxy and do the bottom of the boat. It’s expensive and takes time, but it will remove the hooks |

NICE! I've been wanting to get me a beginner's aluminum welder but I don't even know where to start on what kind to get. The one that we are using is way more over kill than im looking to get. |

I think he will hit 30. He also may have some red legs from the welding. I have had good luck using a Lincoln mp 210. |

I've got a Hobart machine that came with the spool gun. Great setup to learn on! I was able to take my old boat and turn it into what I wanted. A very capable little machine for a good price. |

Doing it the way you did it was much better I’m sure. We tried the epoxy and it wore off pretty quick if you use it the way these things are intended to be used. It hates sand too lol |
