Forced. Induction
I recently became aware of a small, roots type supercharger called the AMR300. My work with a turbo on the 993cc Briggs showed me a blower would produce gobs of hp and torque, but all the plumbing required to run a turbo made it impractical for extended operations. It was just too complicated for extended operational reliability. The AMR300 does not need external cooling or oiling and could be run with a carburetor. I would like to know if anyone has adapted one of these to the 993cc Briggs and what the results were?

Re: Forced. Induction
Interesting. I did a little research on it and it looks a lot more practical than the whole “turbo” setup. I’d guess that it could be driven by a pulley mounted to the flywheel and mounted between where the intake manifold comes together. The only tough thing would be to figuring out the correct pulley diameter to get the desired compression at the proper RPM range to maximize the potential of the Super Charger. The charger is less than $200, so I’m thinking that this could be a huge R.O.I in the way of a bolt on power mod..... of course until there’s a rod sticking out the side of the block, but I’m game to find out. I just happened to have an extra block that is doing nothing but taking up space in my shop, and it’ll be a hell of an improvement if it works to it’s potential.

Re: Forced. Induction
The AMR300 arrived today and it's kind of cute. If it was much smaller it would fit on a charm bracelet. My plan is to belt drive it off a stub shaft from the front of the engine. One nice thing about a roots type blower is the boost is very linear throughout the RPM range. It should be a lot easier to tune the air fuel ratio than it was on the turbo. I would still like to hear from someone that has put one on a Briggs. I learned a long time ago I haven't cornered the market on good ideas.

Al Hodge use to have a photo on his website with an engine sporting a blower.
