Dip stick popped
35hp gator tail with cam, decked heads and exhaust.
I lost an exhaust bolt yesterday and burnt up a gasket. Noticed the dip stick popped up as well. What causes the dipstick to pop?

Re: Dip stick popped
Crankcase pressure and vibration. Do a compression test and a leakdown test.

Re: Dip stick popped
Nope. Just a crankcase vent. Just rebuilt my father's right before duck season. The cylinders were pretty bad. Had to replace the block and grab some new pistons. It probably had around 1400 hrs, but it hasn't had a tach in over 8 years, so dunno. Stock except for a 36mm mikuni.
