Post That’s not good
Cranked my 2018 GTR 37XD yesterday and immediately smelled a burning electrical smell. Little bit of smoke was coming from behind the starter/wiring housing. Took that off and found a bunch of wires melted and burned but the motor ran and cranked fine, but the positive cable from the starter was stripped down and when I moved it, it would glow like it was welding. What would make it burn like this and how do I replace that entire wiring setup?

From a quick look, it looks like you got one of those batches of bad voltage regulators. Call Briggs, they did a recall for that I believe.

Yup, what he said ^^^^

OP, consider yourself lucky! My buddy's engine did the same thing, but it burned his engine down to the frame!

Agreed ^^ if u can see what looks like batteries in the sides of the regulator that means it is “ one of those” regulators
