Battery for cranking
Just wondering how big of a battery ya'll run. The only things on my cranking battery are running and nav lights, bilge pump, and interior lights, all lights are led. I'm using a group 24 AGM battery. I think it's alot more battery than I need. What 's your thoughts?

Re: Battery for cranking
the more CCA is better imo, I have a 34 Blue top as my crank. two 24's up front for trolling motor.
During low temps they help the cranking battery out. reason being when I had a bamf, it had too much compression, and on under freezing the blue top would not turn it over. now this was at 10 degrees, but having more cranking power is not a bad thing!

Re: Battery for cranking
Good point about the CCA. But what is 10 degrees? I'm in the middle of Florida, if it hit 10 degrees the state would shut it self down. I did see 18 deg back in 1981, Dec 26th. Hunted that AM got a beautiful drake woodie and a long story to go with it.

Re: Battery for cranking
I just noticed you have a 25, you should be just fine. I was thinking a built 35 or 40

Re: Battery for cranking
Bone stock 26.5 HP Kohler. Mud Buddy calls it a 25. Sitting parked this weekend, waiting on ignition switch to get in... it has a push in ignition switch witch is easy to change, the down side is no one around has one in stock. I'll have to wait till next weekend to go whack some moorhens.
