I'm running a Briggs 32. 2 years ago I replaced the casing bolts with 3/8-16 Grade 8 bolts. Two have snapped off near the starboard head. Should I go with a stronger bolt, or a weaker one (less brittle, more stretch? Is that a thing?) If I go with a stronger bolt, will that cause the casing to crack? Thought I had this fix nailed, but 2 bolts next to each other failing makes me think I was sure wrong. Help? |

Use a gasket sealant instead. |

I reinstalled the factory case gasket when I reassembled. I like the idea of eliminating the gasket, but with the season around the corner I may wait until I do some post season mods. Would really appreciate any detailed info available so I can figure out what to do. |

Converting to a wet gasket strengthens the block and should solve your issues |
