GTR Repower? 35 or 40?
2013 25 GTR Subaru efi
It’s about time, was thinking about a carb 35 for simplicity. But I did a search on the 40efi and they seem to be somewhat trouble free now.
I assume I can use any of the Briggs engines with my GTR?
Any tips or info from anyone who has done it?
Thanks

Re: GTR Repower? 35 or 40?
You’re thoughts are on the right on track as far as “simplicity” goes, but the EFI has been out for several years now and has a lot of the earlier issues worked out. However, as with any thing electronic when they do have issues it can be more difficult to trouble shoot/repair. The 40’s are a good bit more powerful than the 35’s and the efi can be “tuned” a lot specifically with mods than a carb if you go that route.

Seems to be the Marine offering - https://www.kohler-engine-parts.opeengi ... gJsePD_BwEWhat is actually available these days ??? If these are actually available - would you pay $1750 more for the 40 ???

The 40 is simple enough and the EFI really isn’t hard to fool with. I would get the 40. More power, better performance, etc

good luck on ordering a new 40 from briggs. they are like a year out on delivery i hear.
let's go brandon.
and yea, go with a 40 if u can find one. other than a pushrod comming off around 70 hours, i've put 500 hrs on mine and it's been low maintenance and on the revbox every trip.
