Hi, I am new hear and just found this site a couple of days ago. I have a question for you guys, I have been looking through some of the other posts and just thought I would ask this question directly for my situation. Thanks in advance for your oppinions. I have a 36 prodrive on a 1760 semi-v john and was looking at shipping it down to geker power sports for probally the stage #3 upgrade. My main concern is the reliability and durability of the motor after the work is done. The motor is an 2008 with 9 hours on it. I would like to get more power from it but dont want it to granade on me in the middle of no where and be stuck or have it break down during duck season. |

I have a '08 PD that had 50 hours on it before I took it to Gecker. I didnt go crazy with a stage 3 or whatever they are calling it. I had my carb redone, new exahust, cam, headwork, air fliter and adapter. This was all done last September. I have 136 hours on the motor now. I have had to add a electric fuel pump to keep up with the carb mods, but I think this is normal as many on here with PD's had added them also, with a stock motor. It cranks everytime I hit the key, idles right and runs great. I have not read a post on here yet where a Gecker Modded motor has blown up. Yet there are several post of other who have. Sheldon is a crazy busy guy trying to run a business and keep everyone happy. Sometimes you just can't please everyone. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't give it a secound thought. Sheldon would get my motor again. |

Put out over 200 of them in 2.5 years and a few are bound to break. Yours is the only one I know of that has had any kind of work other than modified stock carbs and exhaust. |

why go straight to stage 3? if u have to get mods, u might want to go stage 1 , then if it ain't enough go stage 2 or 3. but going straight to a full blown grenade from a good ol stock motor is kinda radical. u ain't gonna run a stage 3 motor all day every day and not have problems, i don't care who builds it. i'm not saying it will blowup, i'm just saying u will be pulling alot more maintenance and tweaking the more hopped up it is. if that's ur bag then have at it and enjoy!!!! best of luck whichever u choose!!!! |
