My motor is close to where I want it but it bogs down if I let it idle then it stalls(worse when the temp is down below 30). To start after idling I have to rev the motor in neutral then engage the clutch or it will stall out every time unless I set the idle above 1800.

What would you guys suggest, Change out the idle jet? Change the needle jet setting? Also which way? I assume I am getting to much fuel at idle.

Thanks, oh and its a EVT stage1 motor.

Could be water in the fuel, could adjust the brass enrichment screw to add more fuel or bump up the size of the pilot jet. Try pulling out the choke one click and taking off and see what happens. Another way to check to see if it is starving for fuel is to pump the throttle a couple of times when you are trying to go and see if she takes off. Pumping the throttle is pumping the accelerator pump.

Dont think it is water, its been doing this the entire season. If I turn the enrichment screw out more than 1 turn she runs like shit.
When the motor is choked it runs better, but the RPMS are of course higher.

Once she is in gear without stalling(ie I have throttle the rpms up while in neurtral just before ingaging the clutch) she runs great from bottom to top.

check for air intrusion somewhere.... if you have un-metered air entering the system after the carb it will show symptoms like you've explained. just went through da same thing.

With the engine idling as best as it can... spray some carb cleaner or sumthin around the carb boot and intake gaskets to make sure you don't have a leak pulling air in somewhere.

I had the same problem with mine but rather than increasing the idle jet size I went down one size and it rectified the situation..

Moved the needle jet clip from 2 notches bellow the center notch to 1 notch above the center and it is running much better. May move it up one more notch or just get a smaller idle jet.
