Post subject:  Question on new 36PD

Bought a new 36 pd yesterday. After finishing everything in my boat. I put gas in the tank and cranked it up. When i tried to open it up WOT after about 3900 rpm's it started popping like it's hitting the rev limiter. Is this right because i used be able to open up the throttle on my 27 PD on the trailer to set the rpms. This one starts acting up when trying to check WOT rpms. Let me know what yall think.

either something is set wrong or its hitting the rev limiter before the actual rpms are registering on the tach. try gettin to half throttle and then easing it real slow up to full throttle and see how far you get RPM wise before you hit the rev limiter.

i just went and cranked on mine and you can have that thing at around 2500 rpms and then dump the throttle to wide open and it will be hittin the rev limiter before the rpms even change on the tach...I havent had to adjust anything on my CDI motor and it turns 4000+ in the water
