I am looking for some feedback on this particular Pro Drive motor. I have heard a few things and am looking for some info from those that have used them extensively. Thanks.

PM drake1 he has a lot of good information about this motor. This is what he told me about this motor.

We have built a fully modded Generac and it is still running strong compared to the Briggs. The owner has a Stage III GTR as well and told me that the Generac out pulls, has better hole shot and carries a load better. Top end is the same but the Gen is on a smaller Gatortrax boat. He has taken both over the 38 mph mark and held it. I personnally like my 31HP over the 35HP. It comes out of the hole faster, harder, accelerates quicker, and has alot less vibration. The Generac is the same stroke as the 31 but with a much larger bore. Therefore I think I will like it too. (drake1)

Here is more information about this engine. I quoted the informtion for this seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/Generac-40hp-Horizo ... 3ca9a7dab2

Here is the information in our listing regarding the 33-40hp information
Lets compare Apples to Apples
Kohler lists their CH1000 engine at 40hp Based on the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J1940 Standard which is done with the Air Cleaner & Muffler Removed
Actual DYNO testing with the muffler & air cleaner installed on a 40hp Kohler produced 33.1hp at the Generac Test Laboratory
This Generac engine will produce the same to slightly more horsepower than the Kohler engine under the same test conditions
Even more important is engine torque
The Kohler Engine produced 61+LB FT of torque
The Generac engine produced 63+lb ft of torque
Generac 40hp (Per SAE J1940) max engine
Peak Horsepower (HP) specifications for general purpose engines are calculated pursuant to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J1940 for horsepower ratings - calculated with the air cleaner and muffler removed, per the SAE standard. Actual engine horsepower is lower and affected by, but not limited to, accessories (air cleaner, exhaust, charging, cooling, fuel pump, etc.), application, engine speed and ambient operating conditions (temperature, humidity and altitude). The reason for this standard is to provide consistent measurement to customers who may want to control the intake and exhaust features of the engine. (ml-small-engine-services)

Equal to 40hp Kohler in HP & Torque in a much smaller package

They are not a bad motor I've put about 50hrs on mine that I bought used. The stock carb is JUNK it will cause you alot of headaches well at least mine did. I just put on a weber carb setup on and it seems to be working out. I also run a 36 pd prop. I run it on a 1652 alweld that has runners on the bottom and i get 27 - 28mph by myself with enough weight in the front to keep it for bouncing. hope this helps you

Design wise the Generac is a really well thought out motor internally.. Externally their gov and carb set up sux.. At least the prvious motor I had was like this.. now if they've redesigned the carb/gov setup then things might be better.. I've taken apart all of them and the Generac is the best thought out internally..
