How many hours does it have and when was the last time it was pulled off. If it wasnt put on with anti get stuck and piss you off stuff it will be a biatch. Its gonna take some pry bars and hammers but dont get to rough with it.

I have taken the tiller handle assembley with the engine atached off of the lower unit. The tiller handle braket and the clutch are still hooked up to the engine. It remoce the 4 bolts that attach the engine to the tiller handle/ reverse section off and the clutch is stuck to the engine shaft. had a 3ft pry bar on it and it still wont come off.

Your gonna need to pry on both sides of the clutch at the same time not just one. If it dont come off go get a three jaw puller before you break somthing. I had the same issue. Craig did to and ended up needing another before it was all over.

You did remove the bottom bolt on the clutch?

Poker, what bolt on the clutch? I looked all over on it and all that I see is the shaft that goes to the lower unit and the clutch itself. the reverse plate is still on the motor. The bolts are off and the clutch wont come free even with pressure on each side. This REALLY is PISSING me off

No, never been removed. Its got 204 ish hours on it. Sump started to leek after 50 ish. Just trying to fix this problem before I put on a Big Johnson Manufacturing " stage one" kit. My buddy is a machinist and work at a marine sales and service center in WI. Mechanic is one of 3 master techs in the tri state and he is doin the hop up form me. we were takin it apart after wook tonight and all we have so far is greiff. While im in there I am replacin the lower and upper seals on the lower unit and rotating the nylon sleve in the center section. looks like it will be a long day tomorow. Keep advice comin it is greatly appreciated and welcome. Thread jackers are even welcome if there is some help.

I changed my clutch about 2 weeks ago. I had to use a 10 lb. mall to get it off!!

Word of advice..................If you end up having to pry and beat on it to get it off you best replace it with a new one cause it won't last but a couple hours.....if that!
Don't ask me how I know this.

Got the beeach off this morning. Took some enginering but it came off. that sucker seemed like it was welded on!!! Replace all lower unit seals and rotated the color inside of the lower unit (my tension wheel didnt work form day one), replaced sump gasket and intalled heads after they were decked and shimmed, replaced all fluids(oil and lower unit gresse), put on reworked intake and had it runnin in 4 hours. Thanks for all the help it was needed and appriciated.
