23 GDSD Mods...
I'm new here, but I have a question for all of yall. I am looking at trying to get some more speed/power out of my 23 GDSD that I have on GDSD 16x44 hull. I don't want to break the bank here, but would like to know what "simple" mods can be done to get more overall speed and some power. It's not bad with just me and gear, but when I add in another person it really slows down. Right now I am looking at ordering the BPS Twin Stainless Mufflers, Tiger 3 blade prop and a single mikuni carb from EVT. IS this a good start? Also, I noticed where the same single mikuni carb on BPS was $695 and on EVT it was only $415??? Same carb right, so why the big price difference?? Thanks for input, and please no smart ass comments like get a different brand motor. Thanks
Dave

Re: 23 GDSD Mods...
You are looking at just the carb at EVT, the carb KIT from EVT is 750. The carb KIT from bps 695.
Alot of folks do carb and exhaust first.

Re: 23 GDSD Mods...
Hawkpuppy,
I had a 16x44 -- they like/need the power -- you might consider selling your 23 and getting the 35 for reliability's sake, unless you are trying to avoid the ban on motors over 25hp limit in the projects... Mine felt underpowered with the 27 GDSD and you won't get much more than that from the carb and exhaust without cam and other internal mods which can cut reliability...
Also the 23 slings a smaller prop than the 27 and 35 - or - has a greater gear reduction to sling the full size 12" 2 or 3 blade depending upon your year model...

Re: 23 GDSD Mods...
assuming that 23 is in good condition you might be able to sell it for around 3500??? maybe less.. and buy a new 35 for 1700 more dollars and you got all the horsepower you need and you have a stock motor with a warrenty.....just sayin by the time you add up the carb kit(695), the muffler(480), and the prop(300), then youve already spent 1475 before tax and shipping....so why not just buy the stock 35 and be done with it?
its what i would do anyways, not that it matters
