Post Port and Polish
Okay what the real deal here? I understand porting but polishing? I heard that if the walls/channels are polished that there's a strong chance that the fuel in the air mixture can de-atomize, in turn causing the fuel to build up on the walls as fuel dropplets. Yet, I see these guys trying to brush there teefs in there heads and intakes? Looks cool as shit but aren't they doing more harm than good?

And while I have your attention, when reinstalling pistons and rods on a 36 briggs does the arrow or dot on the piston go to the front ( toward the fly wheel or cylinder 1 = connecting rod 1 out)? I know, I know If I have to ask maybe I shouldn't be f-n with it. lol What can I say, I forgot to take pics and at this point I have very little choice, plus I'm a quick learner! ;)

BB, I currently have a set of heads at a shop where they build stock car/ Nascar engines and he stated a similar thing. Polish the exhaust, but leave the intake with a little texture. He also mentioned that in the old days they used to dimple the combustion chamber a little with a small drill bit right where the intake flow would dump.

Your rods have a taper on one side that bolts to the crank. Taper faces the outside. Both flat sides will be facing each other. We port both the intake and exhaust sides of the heads but only polish the exhaust side.
