i have a 2008 MB 6000 W/ iron mtn heads, only has 31 hrs on it. runs like $h!t. i can only run about 1/4 throttle before it dies out, i did a suposed upgrade with the irn mtn heads from pro flos at about 25 hrs. it was only running about 22 mph on a 1754 GT with the PF heads so i was talked in to the irn mtn heads for better performance. runs Even worse now, cant even get 10 mph out of it. its been to the shop many times and still has not been fixed, heads constently get stuck and every time there is any pressure(water) on the prop it bogs out and dies. constantly back fires and sounds like $h!t too. i use premium gas and have checked the tank for falt and bad gas, idle's at 1150 rpm and dies out at 2500-3500 rps. any one got any tips/idea's that could help out. feels like i got a lemon. im tired of dumping $ into it and its not being fixed.

You bought that motor from H&W and they sent you to the coast to get it worked on last year when it was running like crap? Sounds like you never get that fixed and then added other heads on it.

The IM heads are nice and produce a lot of power. See the list that coondik posted but you don't have timing keys in yours.

You may try the MB forum for more specific help.

Post subject:  Re: Mud Buddy 6000 hd + iron mtn heads

the guy from the coast "fixed/replaced" the bent push rod that he said was causing me the problems and added the IM heads at the same time, he dry tested at his shop but when i put it in the water this $h!t happened, i contacted MB and talked to their guru and he talked to a local mechanic and walked hime through a complete rebuild, replaced a Cracked piston rod, oil pump, rev limiter, rings ect... still not worth a damn.

That's my suggestion too....take it to EVT in Crosby...your best/closest bet-

BTW...who was the person that said you needed Iron Mountain heads to fix your problem?? First thing I'd do is go and take the hundreds of $$$ they ripped you on out of their azz. You got rooked~

Hook,

Did coastal backwater tell you that you needed iron mountain heads or did they suggest that you
add those because they were going into the stock heads anyway? Why did you use them when you bought the motor somewhere else? Agree that Silk at EVT would be a good place to at least call. I have had very good dealings with him. This all seems confusing to me.

He said he already had proflow heads and someone suggested he needed Iron Mountains for better performance.

HOw were you talked into it?? and who did??

reason: no labor charge and parts at cost. b/c id been back twice before they figured out that the rod was bent.

it sounds simple but if theres a rev liniter on there i bet thats it (like some have said), take it off they get wet and turn to junk.

Post subject:  Re: Mud Buddy 6000 hd + iron mtn heads

there was all kinds of crazyness going....

in short a MB 6000 is not a easy set up to maintain....

now we have a EVT custom exaust with a larger single carb with iron mtn heads on a MB 6000 pushing a GT 17x54 huntdeck

we ran to day 31 mph at 4300 rpm

im happy
