 weed eater carb
i gots a weed eater that obviously got rained on because it wont start and it looked nasty on the inside (the jet side). anyway, ive never messed with a carb so i need some help. i removed both sides and the diaphrams look good. they are still soft and not brittle. i removed the spring and mechanism that holds the jet in. cleaned it up real good and placed back together. on the other side (side with one screw holing the plate) in the holes on that side it had a offwhite looking goo blocking a couple of the pasages. i cleaned that up as best i could with a needle and gas. diaphram looked good on that side so i put back together. but it still wont crank. could it be that i need to tear it back down and blast all of the holes with carb cleaner or could it be that i dont have the screw that holds tension on the jet set properly? i can fill a syringe with gas and shoot it in the side of the carb and it will crank. but it will only run a few seconds until that bit of fuel is burned up then i dies ...........

 Re: weed eater carb
the carbs are very easy. if it looks clean it is. id look at the fuel lines. also if it has a primer check to make sure the balls and diaphram are not gummed up. they will stick and cut the flow off.
the needle and seat are pre set and shouldnt get out of wack. make sure the rod the needle pivots on isnt jambed up and that the spring is in right. you should be able to push the spring side with your finger it should snap back.
sounds like you got it clean the first time.
